Indicative fees and deadlines

Indicative deadlines for issuing the expert report

How the terms of an expert report are estimated and why they are always indicative. Each case is assessed according to its complexity and technical agenda.

One of the aspects that most worries the customer is knowing when they will have the expert report in their possession. At PG Gabinete Pericial we work with indicative deadlines that are confirmed in writing after reviewing the specific case. We never offer closed figures without having assessed the real scope of the assignment.

Why the deadlines are indicative

The time necessary to issue an expert opinion depends on variables that cannot be standardized. Committing to a fixed deadline without having examined the documentation and scope of the case would be imprecise and could raise erroneous expectations.

Factors that determine the deadline

  • Technical complexity of the case.
  • Need for in-person inspections.
  • Availability of access to the scene of the events.
  • Volume and quality of the documentation provided.
  • Coordination with other involved parties.
  • current workload of the practice at the time of the order.

Common phases of an expert report

Although each case is different, the deadlines are usually structured in several successive phases.

Orientative phases

  1. First assessment: initial review of the documentation provided.
  2. Acceptance of the assignment: written confirmation of the scope, quotation and estimated deadline.
  3. Technical inspection: in-person visit when the case requires it.
  4. Analysis and preparation: technical study, comparison with regulations and writing.
  5. Delivery of the report: opinion signed and sent to the client.

Urgent cases

If your case requires a particularly tight deadline (for example, a close procedural deadline), it is essential to communicate this from the first contact. Pablo Gómez Thoren will assess whether it is feasible to assume the order with that urgency and will confirm it before starting the work.

Practical recommendation

Contacting the expert as soon as possible, even before having all the documentation gathered, allows you to plan the agenda and avoid last-minute rushes that could affect the technical quality of the opinion. For questions about specific procedural deadlines, it is advisable to consult with your lawyer.
